FALL AND THE DEVIL

December I think was especially hard
We lost twenty moms and some cattle

November dealt us the Lucifer card
Nearly cost half the war in one battle

October devised itself seasonably cold
The restaurants cross-hatched with ice

September your jokes got especially old
And the audience laughed only twice

In August our wagons got stuck in some sand
When Beelzebub sent for the milk

July spoke of lies to the heart and the hand
Betrayal by men made of silk

The rest of the year I can scarcely recount
Though you bring it up each time I see you

Suffice it to say that we spent your amount
On a lifestyle attempting to be you
